Sea News – International Service – In the latest global container port rankings published by the international institute DNV in collaboration with Menon Economics, Singapore Port has been named the world’s top port. The report evaluated the performance of 160 major ports worldwide based on productivity, network connectivity, customer services, and environmental sustainability.
Singapore topped all key indicators, solidifying its position as a central hub in global maritime transport. Experts attribute this success to long-term investments in advanced infrastructure, extensive international shipping routes, and adherence to environmental standards.
Following Singapore, Shanghai and Ningbo-Zhoushan in China ranked second and third, respectively. These ports, with their high container throughput and adoption of smart technologies, continue to play a critical role in global trade. Busan in South Korea and Rotterdam in the Netherlands also rank among the top five, noted for their high productivity and focus on environmental sustainability.
Maritime industry analysts emphasize that port competition is no longer determined solely by cargo volume. Operational digitization, global network connectivity, and sustainable development have become the main benchmarks. At the same time, emerging Asian ports, such as Cai Mep in Vietnam, have succeeded in strengthening their position among the world’s most efficient ports.
