SeaNews – International Service – Turkish port authorities have banned the docking of ships linked to the Israeli regime at ports across the country. The decision, implemented through immediate directives without a formal announcement, has directly impacted the operations of the Israeli shipping company Zim.
Under the new regulation, vessels that are owned, managed, or operated in any way by entities related to Israel are not permitted to enter Turkish ports. Additionally, ships carrying military cargo destined for Israel are also barred, while, in a reciprocal move, Turkish-flagged vessels will be prohibited from docking at Israeli ports.
Zim, which operates ten shipping services with scheduled stops in Turkish ports, has stated that some of its vessels have been rerouted. The company warned that Turkey’s decision could have negative financial and operational effects.
The ban comes amid escalating political tensions between Ankara and Tel Aviv in recent months, and its consequences for regional maritime trade and transportation are expected to become apparent in the near future.
