The Launch of Exports from the Strategic Port of Gwadar: A Turning Point in Pakistan’s Economic Development
SEA News – International Desk – The Gwadar Free Zone (GFZ) has taken a significant step towards the sustainable development of the Gwadar Port and expanding its presence in international markets by initiating exports from the zone. According to reports, exports of products such as potassium sulfate fertilizer will commence from Gwadar Port, which will contribute to the port’s continuous and operational efficiency.
In this regard, Pakistan’s Ministry of Maritime Affairs and the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) have played a key role in facilitating the export process from the Gwadar Free Zone. The Executive Committee of the Cabinet (ECC) of Pakistan has recently approved the export of 10,000 tons of potassium sulfate from the Agven Private Limited factory located in the Gwadar Free Zone for the year 2025. This move is aimed at supporting export growth and attracting new investments.
According to Samad Khan, CEO of Agven Private Limited, the company’s exports are expected to reach around USD 7 million in 2025. However, if production capacity is increased and new investors are attracted to the potassium sulfate manufacturing industry, exports could rise to approximately USD 80 million within the next 2–3 years.
This decision, in addition to boosting exports from the Gwadar Free Zone, is expected to pave the way for the development of other export-oriented industries such as leather processing and mineral refining in the region. Moreover, more industrial companies, including Chinese firms, are in the process of setting up units to export various products from Gwadar.
